Ricky leads British GT4 Championship following last minute call-up

BMW Motorsport Junior Driver Ricky Collard made his debut in the British GT Championship’s opening weekend at Oulton Park (Sat 31 March).

Hampshire-based Collard stepped in to complete the Century Motorsport BMW GT4 driver line-up when Norwegian Aleksander Scjherpen was unable to attend due to clashing commitments.

Ricky said: “It was a privilege to race with Century in a car I’ve spent much of 2017 developing behind the scenes. The BMW performed very well, especially in torrential race conditions, and I was delighted to finish the weekend leading the silver-championship.”

Super-sub Collard returned to the British GT package for the first time since his success in the 2016’s BRDC British Formula 3 Championship. Since the 21-year-old has become a BMW Motorsport Junior Driver and has won in German’s domestic ADAC GT Masters series. He also claimed a class victory with BMW M4GT4 at last year’s Nurburgring 24 Hours.
