Rob gears up for BTCC opener following strong pre-season testing

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship kicks off in earnest this weekend (7/8 April) at Brands Hatch in Kent.

Rob will take to the Indy version of the track in his Team WSR-run Team BMW 125i M Sport as he starts his campaign for the 2018 season following a consistent and strong performance throughout 2017.

Rob said: “My 2017 season was cut short by injury following a major crash at Silverstone in the penultimate weekend of the year. I was then unable to compete in the last five races of the year which was hugely disappointing after being in the hunt for the title all-season long."

Rob was the only driver to score points in every race for the first 21 races of 2017, and to achieve a podium at every round until Rockingham. This had the Team BMW driver leading or in the top 3 of the championship right up until his Silverstone accident.

Rob went on to explain: “I’m really looking forward to the start of the season. Brands Hatch has always been a very good circuit for me – I’ve won twice in the opening round in the past. Last year was my best BTCC campaign performance-wise and it was bitterly disappointing that injury ruled me out from taking the title fight down to the wire. I’m fully recovered now and ready for the 2018 season. Team BMW have worked extremely hard over the winter to improve the car in many different areas and the results have been encouraging in testing.”
