Busy weekend for the Collard brothers

Ricky and Jordan continued their 2019 seasons at the weekend (8-9 June) with action at home and abroad. Jordan Collard took to the track at Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire in his Tolman Motorsport McLaren 570S GT4s for the 2019 British GT Championship Silverstone 500 weekend. Meanwhile Ricky Collard was at Misano circuit in Italy running passenger laps at the DTM for R-Motorsport and continuing his stints in the commentary box.

Tolman Motorsport and the McLaren Automotive Driver Development Programme (DDP) possessed race-winning pace in all weathers throughout the weekend. Heavy rain saturated Friday’s test and Saturday’s free practice sessions but the weather stabilised in time for qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan and team-mate Lewis Proctor had a solid qualifying session but saw their times deleted for track limits infringements and were resigned to a place at the tail of the 26-strong field.

Nevertheless, three hours of racing lay in store on Sunday afternoon, and Collard made big gains on the opening lap of the British GT Championship’s blue-riband event.

Sadly his hard work was undone after just three circuits of Silverstone, when a spinning Aston Martin collided with his McLaren and he headed directly back to the pits. Despite a determined effort by Tolman Motorsport’s mechanics, the damaged #5 entry was ultimately pulled into retirement after a brief reappearance with Proctor at the wheel.

Ricky Collard – DTM Misano, Italy

Ricky was on-track in Italy with his R-Motorsport team colleagues treating VIPs and guests to high-speak passenger laps around the famous circuit. When he wasn’t behind the wheel he was continuing his other motorsport passion; commentating.

Ricky said: “Commenting on the DTM with good mate Dave Richardson was a great way to finish off the weekend at Misano with R-Motorsport. It was a great race with loads of action throughout the field right up to the final laps. Cant wait to be back here in 3 weeks time where I’ll be the other side of the fence racing in the Blancpain World Challenge.”
